Trevira CS: inherently flame-retardant curtain and upholstery fabric
Trevira CS is not a fabric. It is a fibre and a licence.
Trevira CS is the global benchmark for flame retardancy and has been known for this since 1980. A Trevira CS fibre engineers flame retardancy into the chemistry of the polyester. When the fibre is made, an organophosphorus compound is built into the molecule as a co-monomer. Nothing is applied to the surface of the finished product. That distinguishes Trevira CS from treated fabrics. Surface treatments are coatings, and coatings wear, wash and age. A modification at the fibre level outlasts them, because there is nothing to remove. A Trevira CS curtain sustains its flame retardancy across endless wash cycles. After all of them it is as flame retardant as the day it was hung.
The Trevira CS brand name is controlled. A manufacturer cannot label a fabric Trevira CS simply because it contains the fibre. The finished fabric requires testing and approval to carry the trademark, and is subsequently certified. Trevira CS is recognised globally for that reason. Any fabric approved as Trevira CS comes with the associated fire credentials.
We don't sell the Trevira CS fibre on its own. It is recognised as a vital ingredient in the best fabric ranges where flame retardancy is critical.
