Designtex upholstery fabric, panel fabric and wallcoverings
Hume Internationale is the exclusive supplier of Designtex in Australia and New Zealand. Designtex have designed and made applied materials for the built environment since 1962. The range runs across upholstery, panel fabric, drapery and wallcovering, with performance fabric at its centre.
Performance fabric and hospital-grade cleaning
Designtex make coated textiles in vinyl, polyurethane, bio-based polyurethane and silicone. Each is stain resistant, fluid blocking, and treatable with bleach and disinfectant, and made to withstand hospital-grade cleaning and disinfecting products, including alcohol, bleach, hydrogen peroxide and quaternary based cleaners. The woven performance fabrics include Supreen, with a built-in moisture barrier, and Crypton → /brands/crypton/, which repels liquids and resists stains. Where Australian fire data is needed on a Designtex fabric, we commission the testing and hold the reports.
Material health and verified bio-based content
Designtex began assessing the chemistry used in textile production with McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry in 1993. They publish Health Product Declarations for their products, and verify bio-based content by third-party testing to ASTM D6866.
Custom printed textiles and wallcoverings
We supply Designtex textiles and wallcoverings printed to a project's own artwork, colour and scale. Designtex have run their own digital print shop since 2011, and their Digital Studio, introduced in 2023, recolours and rescales a design before it is printed.
