Updated 11 October 2026
This policy sets out what personal information Hume Internationale collects, what we use it for, who receives it, and how you can see or correct what we hold about you. It covers this website, our shop, our samples and our newsletter, The Brief.
Who we are
Hume Internationale, ABN 57 006 649 743 PO Box 4215, Auburn South VIC 3122, Australia Phone 1300 877 603 in Australia, 0800 877 603 in New Zealand
What we collect
You can browse this site without telling us who you are. We collect personal information when you give it to us, and some information about each visit automatically, as set out under Cookies and analytics.
When you contact us, ask for samples or a quote, or place an order: your name, company, email address, phone number and delivery address, and what you are asking about.
When you buy from our shop: your name, billing and delivery addresses, email address and what you order. If you open an account, your login details and your order history. Card details go straight to Square or PayPal, and we never see your full card number.
When you subscribe to The Brief: the details on the subscribe form.
Sometimes a designer, builder or installer gives us your details, for example when you are the person receiving a delivery. We use them for that job.
Without the details a request needs, we can’t answer it, send samples or supply the order.
What we use it for
Answering you, sending samples, preparing quotes, and supplying and delivering orders.
Dealing with a claim about a damaged or faulty product.
Sending The Brief, if you subscribed.
Keeping the records the law requires, such as tax records.
Seeing how the site is used, improving it, and measuring and showing our advertising.
We do not sell or rent personal information.
Who receives it
Our suppliers and the couriers that deliver your samples and orders. They need your name, delivery address and contact details.
Square and PayPal, to take payment.
The services that run our website, email and newsletter.
Google and Cloudflare, for the analytics, advertising, spam protection and site security described below.
Our accountant, and anyone the law requires us to tell.
If all or part of our business is sold or transferred, the personal information we hold may be disclosed in the course of the sale, and passes to the new owner.
Outside Australia and New Zealand
Most of our suppliers are in Europe and the United States. Google, PayPal, Cloudflare and other services we use hold information in the United States and other countries. Those countries may not be required to protect personal information in a way comparable to New Zealand’s Privacy Act. When you ask for samples or place an order, you agree to your details going to the supplier and courier that deliver it.
Cookies and analytics
A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser.
Google Analytics shows us how many people use the site and how they move through it. We use its advertising features: Google may combine its own cookies with ours to show our ads to people who have visited this site. You can turn off personalised ads in Google’s ad settings, at adssettings.google.com, and stop Google Analytics recording your visits with Google’s opt-out add-on, at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. How Google uses this information is set out at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Google Ads cookies record when a visit came from one of our ads.
Google reCAPTCHA checks that our forms are sent by a person. It is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
Cloudflare protects the site from attacks and keeps it fast. It sees the internet address of each visit.
Other cookies hold your shop cart, record which site or search brought you to us, and remember that you have closed our newsletter pop-up.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The shop’s cart needs them to work.
Emails from us
Every issue of The Brief carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes you off the list.
Keeping it safe
We hold personal information in password-protected systems, and this site uses an encrypted connection. We keep it while we need it for the purposes above and for the records the law requires.
Seeing and correcting it
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it. Call us, or use the form on our Contact page. We may need to confirm who you are first.
Questions and complaints
Contact us first, by phone or through the form on our Contact page. We will look into it and reply. In New Zealand you can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, at privacy.org.nz.
Changes to this policy
We change this policy when the way we handle personal information changes. The date at the top is the date of the latest version.
