Paintable wallpaper

Paintable wallpaper is hung first, then painted the colour you choose. Most of it carries a raised pattern, from plaster, stucco and stone to brick, tin and beadboard. Each design lists its size, how it is hung and its pattern match.

How is it hung?

Each design lists how it is installed. A prepasted paper carries its paste on the back, and water activates it. An unpasted paper takes a paste, on the wall or on the paper, as its manufacturer gives it. The pastes are in Adhesives and pastes.

Will it hide marks in the wall?

Minor imperfections, as the manufacturers describe them. It does not repair the wall: for cracks, see Crack repair.

How many rolls do I need?

Count the lengths first: the total width of the walls divided by the roll's width, rounded up. Then the lengths in one roll: the roll's length divided by the wall's height, with a little for trimming, rounded down. A roll 10.05 m long on a 2.7 m wall gives three lengths, 1.56 m of wall across. A drop match uses more of each roll, so allow for it. Order every roll a room needs at once, from the same batch: different batches can have minor colour variations.

How does it come off?

Where its manufacturer gives it, each design lists how it is removed. Check it before you order.
