Leather embossing in a variety of forms has been available for a long time, but how do you scale it into upholstery or wall panelling projects?
Embossed leather is leather stamped with a specific pattern or design.
How do you design with embossed leather?
- Select a leather colour, grain and purity of the hide are not as important.
- Then select an emboss from our wide catalogue of options.
- Work with us and the upholsterer to maximise the efficiency of the embossing plate hide utilisation.
- It is usual in embossing projects to supply cut panels
What are some of the design challenges using embossed leather?
There are two core challenges:
- Linearity. Many embosses have a linear design that needs skilled upholsterers to install without distorting or stretching the design.
- Seam joints. As the embossing plates are limited in size, it is important to ensure the design of the panels supports the furniture or wall panel design.
How many colours or embosses are available?
There is an extensive range of embossing plates and leather colour pallets to select from, most project needs can be satisfied using the existing combinations.
Can I use metallics?
Yes! Embossing is even more stunning when used with our metallic leather finishes.
Can I create my own?
There is no limit on what can be achieved with embossing, if you want to create your own project signature we can manufacture new embossing plates to meet your requirements.

SENSO is a heavyweight leather that is produced on premium bull hides by one of Italy’s finest and most respected tanneries. As the name implies, SENSO is all about the senses. The visual impact of the pronounced grain, the depth and strength of each colour and the beautifully soft handle combine to create a truly sensory experience. SENSO is extremely tolerant to soiling and spillage and has outstanding technical qualities.
