Kusaki

Chrysanthemum petals, onion skins and madder root, sprinkled over fabric, bundled and steam dyed. Alisa Benfey took what the botanicals left behind and redrew it as a print that will hold up to a hospital clean. The repeat is small, 49.5cm each way, so across a whole chair it reads as texture rather than as a motif.

Kusaki is printed on polyester over a Supreen fluid barrier, which keeps a spill on the surface and out of the foam. It is rated to 100,000 Wyzenbeek double rubs and takes bleach at 10:1, along with alcohol, hydrogen peroxide and quaternary disinfectants. It is 147cm wide. Where an Australian fire result is needed we commission the testing to AS/NZS 1530.3 and hold the report.
