What are web surfers are saying about modern wall coverings?
Do you tend to be a listener or a talker? Do you walk your own way every time, or do you take advice from others? Do you exclusively trust your own experience, or can you be swayed by public opinion? Relax, we don’t want to dissect your personality – but we do want to share some recent posts we found on Snippets.com
Conjecture Corporation runs a series of entertaining consumer websites including Snippets.com – a forum where people from around the world provide short and snappy answers to all kinds of questions. What can I do about ignition module failure in a Camaro? What are the eating habits of pitbull puppies? Do babies get separation anxiety? How do I minimize mother-daughter arguments? What are the people like in Yucatan, Mexico? How do I get flea bites to fade away? What should be done for my feline’s clogged anal glands?
Yep, they’re all genuine questions from inquisitive surfers around the globe. But one particular question recently sparked our interest. IS WALLPAPER COMING BACK INTO STYLE?
To be honest, we expected a long series of half-crazy rants about the supposedly dated concept of wallpaper and the hidden pitfalls of interior design. We were pleasantly surprised to find that most of the responses were not only favourable, but quite insightful. People seem to be aware that wallpaper has evolved and now offers a range of materials and textures previously unavailable to the aspiring decorator. Check out some the responses we found and see if they ring true with you, because they do with us!
As a wallpaper contractor of 17 years, I can tell you that wallpaper absolutely is coming back and is better than ever. The patterns and colours are fresh and will do for a room what paint cannot. New non-woven wallpapers can be removed just by peeling them off the wall.
Today people look at houses as an investment instead of a home. I put textured wallpaper up knowing that when we sell our house, I would probably be encouraged to remove it. But I didn’t let that stop me from making my home the kind of place I wanted to be in while living there.
We had a home that recently sold – we got our asking price and the folks who purchased the home complimented us on the wallpaper in our dining room and bedroom, which was also added to parts of our master bathroom. The style of it is important.
I think it is coming back in style, but not the same types of wallpaper that you might be used to. There are all sorts of new wallpapers with cool textures and finishes. You don’t even know that they are wallpaper when you look at them!
