The last issue hung Trevira CS at the window, in Svensson’s curtains. This issue puts it on the chair, in fabrics from Gabriel.
On a chair, a fabric is sat on, spilled on and washed. Step, Step Melange, Go Uni, Go Check and Go Couture wash at up to 74°C. Gabriel designs Step for workplaces and public areas with strict fire and safety regulations. The flame retardancy is part of the fibre, so it is still there after every wash.
The two projects below show the same fabrics in a Madrid hotel and a Milan bar.

Velvet elegance in a 1930s Madrid building
IKONIK Gran Vía is a 45-room hotel on Madrid’s Gran Vía, in a building that joins 1930s art deco with contemporary design. WANNA built the interior around pure geometries and a contrasting palette of black and white marble, metal, ceramics, coloured tiles and chromatic furniture fabrics.
The upholstery is Gabriel’s Savoy, a short-pile velvet, alongside Atlantic. Savoy adds a touch of elegance with its luxurious texture. It is 100% Trevira CS and rated at 100,000 Martindale.

Saturated colour divides a Milan bar
For Milan Design Week 2026, the furniture brand Adrenalina presented Bar Adrenalina at Bar Boccascena in Palazzo Litta. Debonademeo Studio divided the bar into zones: lively areas for company, quieter settings for rest and spaces for reflection.
Strong, saturated colour marks each zone. The upholstery is Gabriel’s Step, with Chili and Europost 2. Step is 100% Trevira CS, a fibre with high colour brilliance and fastness to light, and it washes at 74°C.
More than a fabric
The three ranges below were designed by Inger Mosholt Nielsen, Gabriel’s creative director from 2016 to 2020. All three are 100% Trevira CS. Savoy’s colours are by Cenk Kivrikoglu, Gabriel’s creative director today, who also gave Savak NU its palette. “It is impossible to think about colour without thinking about material,” he says.

The detail
How is upholstery fire tested?
Fabric and foam are tested together. EN 1021 tests a small mock-up of fabric over foam, and BS 5852 Crib 5 uses a burning timber crib. Trevira CS passes Crib 5 with flame-retardant foam of 50 kg/m³ or denser.
What happens when something is spilled?
Spots on polyester and Trevira CS can be removed easily, most with lukewarm water and a pH-neutral detergent. Step can also be wiped with Virkon S, Actichlor Plus or ethanol.
Where else is it used?
Several of these ranges are certified for ships and aircraft.
