Waterproofing and rust prevention
The little fishing boat that could change the shipping world!…. Fishing Trawlers rust and need to be repaired every year or do they…..
Here are the facts:
- Fishing Trawlers rust around the waterline
- The rust needs to be cleaned off every year in a dry dock and repainted
- The surface is scratched to enable the paint to bond with the surface
- CRAKGON® was offered as an alternative
The amazing properties of CRAKGON® will provide a waterproof seal, bond with a painted surface without requiring any scoring and as an inert substance prevents the growth of organisms.
In this case rust can be prevented because the metal is completely sealed and not exposed to oxygen and water.
So one fishing trawler put the product to the test.
- The application was simple: the CRAKGON® and paint (the paint used, was a marine paint from International Paints, an Akzo Nobel Company) just stuck to the boat
- 1 year later we pulled the boat out of the water.
- The side of the boat that had CRAKGON® applied to it was undamaged and rust free.
- The other side of the boat that had not had CRAKGON® applied had deteriorated and gathered the usual coating of rust
- The side of the boat that had CRAKGON® applied to it was undamaged and rust free.
CRAKGON® is now being applied to the entire fishing fleet and is moving on to conquer container ships!
